(1895 - 1970) Marshal of the Soviet Union and Stalin's first chief commander, rose to command Russian forces during the occupation of Poland at the beginning of World War II but displayed a total lack of understanding of German blitzkrieg tactics after the launching of Barbarossa. Typed D.S., 1p. 4to, 1955, the text of a telegram sending greetings to Alexander Yakushov upon his promotion to Lieutenant-General. Timoshenko signs at the conclusion in blue ink. One horizontal fold, damp stain at right edge, not affecting the contents. Very good condition.
