MA HONGKUI
(1892-1970) Chinese warlord who ruled the province of Ningxia, fought against the Japanese and subsequently the Communist forces of Mao Zedong. Considered one of China's best generals of the period. Scarce I.S.P. in Chinese, 4 x 5.5 in. b/w, a chest-up view of the general in uniform mounted to a 6 x 8.75 in. backing, which he signs and inscribes in blue ink on either side of his image. Shows some mild toning and mounting remnants to the verso, else very good.
