A RARE ANTIQUE RUSSIAN CERAMIC PLATE ABRAMTSEVO

A hand-painted wall plate depicting the bird of paradise Sirin surrounded by flowers. Sirin is the image of a bird with the head of a girl from Slavic legends. The artists of the Abramtsevo workshop often turned to ancient Russian legends for inspiration. The main idea was to revive the art of Russian handicraft. On the plate under the image of Sirin there is an inscription "Abramtsevo" in Russian. On the back there are stamps and holes with a loop for wall mounting. Circa late 19th - early 20th century.

Dimensions: D: 6 3/8 in. (16.2 cm.)
