R. Yaakov Moshe Eyayesh (1727-1817), was a son of R. Yehuda Eyayesh (Mateh Yehuda) who was one the distinguished rabbinical figures in Algiers. In 1756, he joined a group led by his father which immigrated to Yerusholayim, where he was respected as a prominent Talmid Chochom. He was later appointed as a SHaDaR and travelled to Livorno (where he published his father’s seforim). He was prevailed upon to stay there as a Rav and lived in Italy for about twenty years. He later returned to Yerusholayim, where in 1806 he was appointed as Rishon L’Zion. He also led a Yeshiva in Yerusholayim and many of the next generation’s Rabbonim where his talmidim.
