CLASSICS. Shomer Emunim by R. Yosef Irgas. First Edition. Amsterdam 1736. Rare!
Copy of the Kossoner Rebbe.
Rare Kabbalah sefer incorporating Shomer Emunim and M’voh Pesachim, two discussions concerning the learning of Kabolah, and the Kabbalistic rulings found in the writings of the Arizal and Kabbalistic responsa. This sefer is a dialogue between two interlocutors regarding the correct approach to the study of Kabolah, and is primarily a refutation to the approach of R. Immanuel Chai Rikki.
This sefer is one of the most fundamental on the study of Kabolah.
R. Yosef Irgas (1685-1730), was born in Livorno and learned in the great Yeshiva of R. Shmuel Di Fas. He learned Kabbalah under R. Binyomin HaCohen Vital, who was a talmid of R. Moshe Zacuto. He eventually settled in Pisa, where he founded the Nevei Shalom Yeshiva. His fame as a Torah scholar preceded him and he received halachic questions from Italy and France. Some of his responsa were published in the work Divrei Yosef.
Stefansky Hebrew Classics 369. Vinograd Amsterdam 1458. [2], 80 pages. Lacking the 2 pages of corrections found in a few copies. 22 cm. Very fine condition. Two title pages, the first illustrated, with an additional title page for the M’voh Pesachim.
