Rare book from a rare printer: Imrei Binyamin on the Torah—first edition, Tarnopol 1814.
“By the Rabbi, the famous Maggid Binyamin [ben Rabbi Meir HaLevi Segel]…given as a drash every Shabbos…when he was Maggid Meisharim in Berdichev and would give a drash for years there. And also after becomes Maggid here in Brod…”. Endorsements from rabbis of Brod, including Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margaliot and the rabbi of Tarnopol, Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel Babad. Following pressure from citizens of Brody, the publisher (the author’s grandson) only published Genesis to Leviticus, in the hopes of publishing the rest later but that never happened. [3], 92 leaves. Quality paper. Stains. A few defects. Overall very good condition. This is a rare book printed from a rare printing which only produced a few Hebrew titles.
