African Tribal Sculpture of Portuguese Soldier
Benin people, Nigeria, Lost wax casting in bronze alloy, 20th C. Well cast figure of a soldier in body armor pointing a long musket and additionally carrying a gun and sword. The base is modeled in a basket weave pattern atop of which is a crocodile, musket balls, a mask and an arm with a fly whisk (?).
