JOSEF BURCKEL

(1895 - 1944) German politician and Reichstag member, an early member of the NSDAP party and influential in the rise of the National Socialist movement. Burckel heavily promoted the Anschluss including promoting anti-Jewish decrees and seizing Jewish property. His extravagant lifestyle, financed through confiscated Jewish money and property, earned him the displeasure of the Nazi hierarchy and he was eventually removed from his post in Vienna. Fine association T.L.S. on black-bordered mourning letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Weihenstephan, July 7, 1941 to WILHELM FRICK (1877-1946), Nazi Minister of the Interior, author of the Nuremberg Laws and hanged at Nuremberg for his crimes. Burckel expresses his condolences upon the "heroic death of your son", Oberleutnant Walter Frick. Surprisingly, we can find no information surrounding the death of Leutnant Frick. Fine condition.
