JACK SWIGERT

(1931 - 1982) American astronaut who replaced Ken Mattingly on the Apollo 13 mission only three days before launch. Great association A.L.S. "Jack", 1p. 4to., [Houston,] Oct. 12, [1969], to a "Ken", referencing the Apollo 12 space mission, reading in full: "[I] have your picture all signed Thru a fortuitous bit of luck, the 12 crew was in town this weekend. Still have to get Bills address so I can send him a picture. Does he have any kids?" Swigert signs at the conclusion in blue ink. Six months after this letter was written, Swigert would act as the command module pilot for the infamous Apollo 13 space mission. Fine, with transmittal envelope.
