HINDENBURG POSTAL COVER AND PRESS PHOTO
Great flown Hindenburg cover, canceled in Stuttgart one year to the day before the airship would crash at Lakehurst, New Jersey on May 6, 1937. The registered cover was sent aboard the airship which was travelling from Frankfurt to Lakehurst. Sold with an 8 x 10 in. original press photo showing Hindenburg landing in a heavy fog at Lakehurst on Feb. 7, 1936: "...thanks to the development of scientific instruments, a huge airship like the Hindenburg come safely to her ground station at Lakehurst, N.J. without a hitch..." Photo bears a couple of very short marginal tears.
