GUENTER WENDT

(1923 - 2010) NASA engineer who was in charge of the spacecraft close-out crews for the entire Mercury and Gemini programs and the manned phase of the Apollo program. Often the last person astronauts saw before take-off, the movie "Apollo 13" made him famous with the line: "I wonder where Guenter Wendt?" His signed book: "The Unbroken Chain" (Ontario: Apogee Books), 2001, 8vo. 216pp. with a pictorial dust jacket. Wendt signs in black ink on the title page, adding his title "Pad Leader." Sold with a newspaper clipping and the book's original accompanying CD-ROM. Fine.
