DOUGLAS CORRIGAN

(1907 - 1995) "Wrong-Way Corrigan", American aviator of the Thirties who set out in his plane promising to fly west and ended up making a trans-Atlantic crossing. His minor miscalculation brought him national fame. His signed memoir: "That's My Story" (New York: E. P. Dutton & Co.), 1938. First edition, 222pp. 8vo. in blue cloth with red embossed title and illustration on cover. Corrigan signs on the front flyleaf, adding the inscription: "5-19-39...Detroit". Small spots of occasional foxing, else very good, with original dust jacket. Sold with a vintage "Welcome Corrigan" button, 1.25 in. dia., showing an oversized black-and-white image of Corrigan's head comically placed atop a biplane.
