Rare D.S. "Philip" as Commanding Officer, HMS MAGPIE, 2pp. 8vo., [n.p., but likely while in drydock], Sep. 9, 1950, his approval of engine room log entries certifying various repairs. Light toning, else very good. During World War II, Philip did service with the Royal Navy throughout the Mediterranean. On 16 July 1950, he was promoted to lieutenant commander and given command of the frigate HMS MAGPIE, most likely again in the Mediterranean.
