EMPEROR HIROHITO AND EMPRESS KOJUN (NAGAKO)
Stunning and very rare pair of signed photographs in presentation frames of Japanese Emperor HIROHITO (1901 - 1989) and his wife, Empress KOJUN (1903 - 2000). The 9 x 6.25 in. b/w photographs, each ca. 1980, depict the royal couple full length and in formal wear, the Emperor wearing his highest orders and decorations. Each photograph has been signed in bold, black ink strokes. The photographs are housed in their original navy blue leather presentation frames which are gilt-trimmed and bear the royal chrysanthemum seal at top. The photographs are in very fine, untouched condition, the front of the frames are slightly scraped in a few places. A pair of very rare signed images.
