(1968 PRESIDENTIAL TICKET) GEORGE WALLACE AND CURTIS LEMAY

Great pair of signatures on an FDC, 1p. oblong 8vo., commemorating Voting Day and bearing a Nov. 5, 1968 cancel, signed by the failed presidential ticket of presidential candidate GEORGE WALLACE (1919 - 1998), Segregationist Governor of Alabama who was badly wounded by a would-be assassin, and his vice-presidential candidate CURTIS LEMAY (1906 - 1992), American Air Corps and Air Force general, advocated strategic bombing during World War II and directed the firebombing raids on Japan. Fine condition. As the candidate for the American Independent Party against Richard Nixon and Hubert Humphrey, the impact of Wallace's campaign was substantial, winning the electoral votes of several states in the Deep South.
