GERMAN WAR BONDS POSTER: "ZEICHNET DIE KRIEGSANLEIHE"
Original German propaganda poster, 29 x 44 in., bearing the title "Zeichnet die Kriegsanleihe" ("Subscribe to the War Loan"), and depicting a standing German soldier in the foreground with his right arm raised, with the background showing German troops and artillery moving through a ruined town. The bottom-left bears the poem: "Zeichnet die Kriegsanleihe Ein heiliger Krieg ist's, In dem wir streiten, fur Deutschland opfern wir Leben und Blut. Helft, helft den Sieg uns Vorbereiten, Und opfert freudig Geld und Gut." ("It is a holy war in which we fight, for Germany we sacrifice life and blood. Help, help us prepare for victory, And joyfully sacrifice money and goods.") The printed signature of artist "L. Spegg" and date "1917" appears at the bottom right of the image, just above the publishing line of Reichhold and Lang in Munich. Folds, with one vertical fold along the right edge, else very good.
