1916 INK DRAWING, 13TH CANADIAN BATTALION HEADQUARTERS
Excellent original ink battle scene executed and signed by Canadian artist Lt. JOHN MCQUEEN MOYES (1888-1948) while serving with the 13th Canadian Battalion, The Royal Highlanders of Canada, in 1916. The 8 x 6 in. drawing shows the modest headquarters of the valiant regiment, and is captioned: "La Plus Douve Farm. Batt. Head Quarters 13th Can. Batt. The Royal Highlanders of Canada". Signed and dated 1916 at bottom. Fine condition. Moyes served for the length of the war and received two wounds in his left leg. One of his works is displayed in the Canadian War Museum.
