MEMORIAL PHOTOGRAPH OF MAX IMMELMANN
MAX IMMELMANN (1890-1916) First German World War l flying ace and a pioneer in flying aviation. He was the first aviator to win the Pour le Merite, and was credited with 15 aerial victories, killed in combat against the British. Original photograph (unsigned), 4.5 x 6.75 in. b/w, showing a full-body image of Immelmann in uniform with a dog on a leash. Mounted to a total size of 8 x 11 in., bearing the text beneath the image: "Fliegeroberleutnant Max Immelmann...21. Sept. 1890...18. Juni 1916". Very good.
