(1896 - 1989) British World War I ace credited with ten aerial victories. During his combat career, he engaged two famous German aces; he was one of the British pilots who downed Werner Voss, and on 9 January 1918, he shot down and killed Max Ritter von Muller. A.L.S., 2pp. 8vo., Shawford, Apr. 12, 1984, in part: "�The last fight I has was during the battle of the Somme 1916. I was piloting an FE2Band engaged a German biplane single motor�I fired our Lewis guns at the enemy as he circled round�The German disappeared in the end but I don't know if we shot him down�" Fine.
