JAPANESE TYPE 4 CERAMIC HAND GRENADE

Very late war Japanese Type IV hand grenade, a "last-ditch" hand grenade developed by the Imperial Japanese Navy in the closing stages of World War II. The cylindrical ball is about 85 mm. across and was intended to be a fragmentary weapon. It had a simple fuse, and the detonator was no more than a blasting cap crimped on to a five-second length of fuse. Inert.
