19th Century Lap Desk : Inlay Pattern / Burl Wood
19th-century lap desk with inlay details on edges and around center nameplate ( blank). Interior retains the blue satin ruched folio pocket on the inner lid and matching blue felt on the writing surface of the slanted desk when open for use. Original hinges show use and wear/ loose from wood on one side of the folding writing surface. The wood exterior has age-related cracking and edge chipping and or minor veneer lift. Interior small inscription under portfolio pocket, pocket partially detached. Wear, and use as expected for an often-used traveling item of this age. Dimensions : 11.75 x 9 inches x 6 inches high
