Spanish Main Gauche Parrying Dagger, 17th c.
Iberian Peninsula, Spain, probably Toledo during the late 17th century. Left handed Spanish military dagger. Blade with a finely pierced ricasso of two opposing half moons and flat ricasso. Sides of the ricasso carved with flat serration. Blade a straight single edge with a double edge forward section and rope engraved top section. Classic sail guard with turned edged and straight quillion, composed to blade with later grip and hand peened over in the 19th century. Size 20" L, blade 13" L

Condition: Very good with a light layer of old linseed oil patina, minor looseness to the guard.
