Russian Imperial Cossack Bolt Action Rifle, Dated 1888
Imperial Russian Berdan II, bolt action long rifle used by the Cossacks during the late 19th century. Round barrel, proof marked and stamped throughout with serial numbers. The top mark a double headed eagle reading (II K) underneath. Seral Number (41XXX), dated 1888 to the stock with an impressed mark and the action mechanism. Size 42" L, barrel 20 1/2" L
Cossacks, as a prominent military and cultural group in Russia, used the Berdan II rifle extensively. The rifle saw action in various conflicts, including the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878), the Russo-Japanese War (1904–1905), and World War I (1914–1918)
