Mexican Revolution Period Infantry Sword, circa 1910
North America, Mexican Revolution circa 1910. Infantry sword with well wrapped guard and handle in black leather with white leather stitched in the traditional fashion. Blade a straight single edge with flat spine, engraved with light patterns of circles, lines and squares to the ricasso / blade. Scabbard in a light brown leather with a twisted loop and two tassels of leather. The Mexican Revolution of 1910 was a 10-year conflict between revolutionaries and political rivals for control of Mexico. The revolution began when liberals and intellectuals challenged the 34-year dictatorship of Porfirio Diaz, who had been in power since 1877. Size 21 1/2" L, blade 16 3/8" L
