Mali, Dogon Granary Door w/ Incised Designs
Hammered and incised triangles and wheat stocks, this hand carved granary door would be used to store their staple dietary grains of millet, sorghum and wheat. Granary doors were commonly adorned with impressive carvings including scenes of life, sun lizards and primordial beings, served to protect the entrance by making it sacred. Size 53 1/4" H x 18 1/2" W
Condition: As-is condition with wear commensurate with age and use.
