Sumatra Brass Peurise Teumaga Shield
Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Sumatra, Aech probably 19th century Peurise Teumaga or brass shield specific to the island and region. The Peurise Teumaga was used by the Acehnese warriors battling Dutch colonialist in the 19th century. The shield is round with a border of cascading demi circles. The face has seven raised central lopes that mimic the sun and is profusely decorated in raised patterns.

The Aceh War 1873-1904 was an armed conflict between Dutch colonist and the Sultanate of Aceh. The war was a component of a series of conflicts that consolidated control over the Modern day Indonesia. Size 9 7/8" H x 1 3/4" W
Condition: old repairs from time and use in battle
