295 US Hwy 22 East, Suite 204 West, Whitehouse Station, NJ 08889, United States
The Morning of Saturday, August 3rd, we will bid farewell to a unique legacy collection of American toys and banks: The Haradin Family Collection. A magnificent and richly historical archive, it spans multiple generations of a family whose roots are deeply embedded in two communities: their native Pittsburgh and the borderless realm of antique toy and bank collecting. This auction hits especially close to home for us because the Pittsburgh clan that built the collection includes our lifelong friend and colleague Ray Haradin, the "R" of RSL Auction Company. The Afternoon of Saturday, August 3rd we will be selling the world class paper lithography collection of Carl & Linda Thomas of Bluefield, WV. Included are many fantastic skittle and knockdown sets, about 15 sets of paper litho trains and about 15 to 20 paper litho horse drawn toys. Also included in this sale is a selection of still banks, penny toys, and the Kobe Toy Collection of Ron & Sandy Rosen.

Perfection Registering Bank
Designed by Charles Bailey. Made by J. & E. Stevens Company. Cromwell, Connecticut - Circa 1893. For decades, the symbolic meaning portrayed in the Perfection Registering Bank baffled and eluded collectors. However, some thirty years ago, Oliver Clark advanced a theory identifying the Wizard of Oz as the source material for this imagery. And this seems entirely plausible since we find many of the narrative elements and characters from Frank Baum's classic fantasy clearly presented. Front and center, Dorothy and Toto are seen walking on the "yellow brick road", albeit backwards. The Tin Woodsman, here presented as a soldier, stands guard beside the coin tally board. The Cowardly Lion is found camouflaged and cowering behind a sprig of foliage on the short side of the bank. And the floppy discombobulated Scarecrow is on the front panel of the bank. He appears to be running from the oversized menacing crows directly into the poppy field that put our protagonists to sleep. This is an absolutely stellar example of an exceedingly rare toy bank. It is the only mint and boxed specimen that we know about. From Al Davidson through Donal Markey.
Condition: Mint with Original Box.
