Rare Chinese Guangxu Period Cloisonne Hot Pot
Rare Chinese cloisonne hot pot, Guangxu period. With applied handles along the left side of the lid and body. There are fastenings for handles along the right side as well, but there are no longer handles attached. Foliate and floral motifs along the enamel surface in an array of greens, turquoise, yellow, white, red, and blue against a black ground. Heart-shaped scrollwork band along the upper rim of the hot pot's bowl and a geometric border along the footrim. With a portal leading to the compartment intended for the heating element.
Provenance: Estate of Erwin Swann; Private Minnesota Collection.
Height: 8 1/2 in x diameter: 9 1/2 in.
Condition: There are no major dents to the lid or body. Breaks to the enamel along the interior of the lid. Some tarnishing to the metal components throughout. Dust gathered along the interior. Lacking two handles: one along the lid and one along the body.
