Robert Duckworth Greenham Seaside Painting
Robert Duckworth Greenham (British, 1906-1976). Oil on canvas painting depicting a crowd gathered around a seaside Punch and Judy display. Signed along the lower left.

Lot Essay:
Born in Streatham, the artist studied at the Byam Shaw School of Art and then at the Royal Academy Schools where he was awarded a Landseer Scholarship, Creswick Prize, a Silver Medal for painting, and the British Institute Scholarship.
His most popular works were set on beaches and coasts, often set in Suffolk. Other common subjects of his included fetes, regattas, and other outdoor, social occasions. He also painted portraits of popular actors, inspired from movie stills, which included Greta Garbo and Jessie Matthews.
