Japanese Meiji Ceramic Satsuma Censer
Japanese Meiji ceramic satsuma censer. Signed Kinzan. Heavily gilded with four cartouches: two depict gardens with flowers and the other two depict finely dressed figures. With a pierced lid and the body resting on four gently curved feet. Marked along the underside.
Height: 4 in x diameter: 5 1/2 in.
Condition: There are no major chips or losses. There are areas throughout where the gilding had faded particularly to the lid. There is an area along the lower edge of the lid that has been repaired. There is a minute chip along the outermost exterior edge. There is crazing visible along the areas that have not been painted over. There is an area across one of the painted panels that has an adhesive residue. There is wear to the feet, as expected from age and use.
