Sefer Mishnas D’Rabbi Akiva, Furth 1781. Only Edition. Glosses by the Gaon Rabbi Biyomin Leib Pixel disciple of the Chasam Sofer - Copy of Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac of Swaliva

Sefer Mishnas D'Rabbi Akiva written by the first Rabbi Akiva Eiger, known as Rabbi Akiva Eiger the Elder, Av Beis Din of Zülz and Pressburg,

A complete copy of Sefer Mishnas D’Rabbi Akiva, authored by R. Akiva Eiger (the 1st), grandfather of the famed R. Akiva Eiger of Posna and published by his children after his death.

On pp. [3] we find an interesting dedication page to the author’s family and descendants, including R. Moshe and Rebbitzen Gittel Gunz, parents of R. Akiva Eiger. In it, he expresses blessing to his sister Gittel and her husband R. Moshe, and adds that they shall merit to see blessing from their children and especially their eldest son Akiva, who although is still young his intellect is like an adult and he studies Torah day and night. R. Akiva Eiger was born in 1761, so he was approximately 20 years old when this was published.

The Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Biyomin Wolf Leib Pixel (1792-1868) was a leading disciple of the Chasam Sofer and of the Baruch Ta'am. Until 1833 served as Dayan of Ir Chadash and since 1833 as Av Beis Din of Abony. However, he resigned shortly thereafter due to persecution of the members of the Enlightenment Movement. In 1835 he was appointed Av Beis Din of Mezator. In ca. 1838, he returned to Ir Chadash to serve as Moreh Tzeddek and Maggid Meisharim until his passing in 1868.

Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Weiss was the Av Beis Din of Swaliva and a leading rabbinical figure in Hungary. A tremendous Torah scholar, he was a devout Chassid of many Admorim and edited his Rabbi's sefarim. Born in Munkatch, he dedicated himself to the service of G-d from his youth, serving Him in holiness and purity. He was a disciple of the Bnei Yisaschar and Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac of Zidichov. A great Kabbalist, he edited Rabbi Yehuda Tzvi of Rozdol's sefer Amud HaTorah. His nephew and disciple, the Imrei Yosef of Spinka, writes in his introduction to Likutei Torah, that Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac edited and organized Rabbi Yitzchak of Zidichov's sefarim and according to the will of Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac, received these manuscripts. He served as Av Beis Din of Swaliva for twenty years and then as Rosh Av Beis Din of Munkatch for an additional twenty-five years, until his passing in 1893. He authored Beis Yitzchak on tractate megillah, Toldos Yitzchak and Divrei Yitzchak
