Rabbi Yehuda Grunwald (1846-1920), born in Brezowa, studied under Rabbi David Fischer of Piestany, Rabbi Ahron David Deutsch of Gyarmat and one of the prized students of the Ksav Sofer at Pressburg. Son-in-law of R. Yuzpa Sofer (son of the Chasam Sofer). Rabbi of Szabatist (1882), Bonyhad (1889), Surany (1896) and Szatmar (1899). Famous Rabbi and Rosh Yeshiva, highly revered by his students and others. Author of Shevet Miyehuda.
Rabbi Moshe Dovid Ostreicher (1883-1954), was a talmid of R. Tzvi Hirsch of Munkacs (Darkei Teshuva), R. Yehuda Greenfeld and R. Yehuda Grunewald. Known as a tremendous Talmid Chochom and great Posek, he served as Rov in Tchimpa and later Arad. Miraculously surviving the Holocaust, after the war he was greatly involved in helping Agunos after the war. He later immigrated to New York, settling in Williamsburg where he was held in great esteem.
