Five of Pushkin's lycée poems were published for the first time in the “Monument to domestic muses”. It is said about them in the preface: “Those who respect the modesty that adorns a brilliant genius will be pleased to know that Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, having allowed the publisher to place in this Almanac some of the first works of his Muse, not trusting their dignity, wished the publisher to indicate the time of their composition. But in these works of the young Poet one can see the mature gift of genius, and they are all the more precious for a Monument to Domestic Muses”. Fyodorov was not telling the truth: Pushkin gave him no permission to publish his works, as the poet himself later stated publicly. Most likely, the Lyceum manuscripts were preserved by Turgenev, who encouraged Pushkin's enrollment at the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum and looked after him throughout his studies. Nevertheless, owing to this coincidence, Boris Fyodorov's good-quality but unremarkable almanac was included in the editions with the first lifetime editions of Pushkin, which automatically entitles it to be included in the "golden fund" of Russian book rarities.

Preservation: Scuffs to the cardboard of the binding and the leather of the backbone. Binding corners slightly bumped. No engraved title page by S.F. Galaktionov. Owner’s note in the table of contents about one of the authors. Last pages have stains, pencil marks on the nachsatz.

Seal on the title page "From the collection of S.N.Troynitsky". Sergey Nikolayevich Troynitsky is a famous heraldist and art historian, one of the founders of the magazine “Old years”.
