Pedigreed Copy: Chafetz Hashem by the Author of the Or Hachaim Hakadosh - Second Edition Zholkva, 1805

Sefer Chafetz Hashem, a work on several tractates of the Shas: Berachot, Shabbat, Horayot and Chulin, by Rabbi Chaim Ben Atar, who was renowned for his monumental work and was known as the Or Hachaim Hakadosh.

Second edition "as printed in Amsterdam" - Zholkva, 1805. [2], 124 leaves. Touching introduction in poetic language by the author, explaining the title of the book: "כי כל כוונתי לעשות בו חפצו יתברך...

On the title page:  "בדפס נאה ומשובח.. A notation on the flyleaf indicates the close ties between the publisher and the author and his book: "וכשם שסייעני ה' להשלים החיבור הקדוש הזה...

Approbations by leading contemporary rabbis: the holy Gaon Rabbi Yisrael ben Shabta Hopstein, the Maggid of Kozhnitz author of Avodat Yisrael, the great Gaon Rabbi Yaakov ben Rabbi Mordechai Ze'ev Av Beit Din of Lviv and the famed Gaon Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margolis of Brod.

Taping to the title page and some leaves. Creases and stains. Many signs of usage. Good overall condition.

On the title page, blurred stamps:  "יעקב הכהן וויזענפעלד מאפטא" - the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Hacohen Wisenfeld (passed away in 1926) the Rav of Zaklikov (Lublin district). Was born in Apta. For most of his life, he worked as a merchant. When he was approx. fifty, after being forced to close down his business, he agreed to accept a rabbinic position in Zaklikov, a position he held for 25 years.

He owned a library of thousands of books. From his novellae, only his glosses on the sheets of some books had survived and only a small part of it was published (See Kovetz Etz Chaim - Bobov and Shut Sha'arei Deah).

Additional stamps of his son-in-law: "הרב טוביה גוטמן הכהן רפופורט רב חופ"ק טורונטו" - served as Rav in Toronto, Canada.
