Volume with the Rare Books by the Rav of Ada including the Polemic Milchemet Chovah - First/Single Editions of the Early Books Printed in Jerusalem 1885-1889
Volume with the varied books of the Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Eliezer Weber Av Beit Din of Ada. First or only edition (facsimile editions not taken into account) which were printed in Jerusalem and are among the earliest books that were printed there. In the National Library, the all appear, without exception, in the Rare Book Collection.
1. Bechor dal. On tractate bechorot - first ediiton, Jerusalem 1889. [6], 24-41 leaves. (Shoshana Halevi 643).
2. Zimrat HaAretz. Commentary on Perek Shira - Jerusalem 1889. [1], 22 leaves. (Shoshana Halevi 642).
3. Erech Dal. On tractate Arachin - First edition, Jerusalem 1885. Originally, [5], 20, [1] leaves. In this copy: only [3], 20 leaves (Shoshana Halevi 522).
4. Etz Avot. Section I: commentary on the Aggadeta of tractate Arachin and Pirkei Avot - first edition, Jerusalem 1885. [1], 20, [1] leaves. (Shoshana Halevi 523).
5. Milchemet Chovah, polemic book written against the book Ohalei Shem by the Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried in which he disrespectfully disagrred with the Divrei Chaim of Sanz. Was printed anonymously in 1882. In this edition, however, the author reveals his name on the title page, also noting that he was a disciple of the Rav of Sanz and therefore was defending him. Jerusalem, 1885. [2], 19, [1] leaves. On verso of the title page are two letters by the Admor Rabbi Shlomo Halberstam of Vizhnitz (of Bobov the first) to the author. Printed after them is "התנצלות המציל מן הרודף". (Shoshana Halevi 508).
6. Temurat Todah. On tractate Temurah - First edition, Jerusalem, 1887. [4], 34 leaves. (Shoshana Halevi 607).
7. Etz Avot. Section II: commentary on Pirkei Avot and Mamarei Chazal in tractate Bechorot - first edition, Jerusalem 1887. [2], 17 leaves. (Shoshana Halevi 597).
Ancient leather spine. Minor stains. Some fragile paper. The first title page is lose and with a tear. Several tears. Good overall condition.
Stamps of the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Berlin, the son of the Natziv of Volozhin.
