Rare! Divrei Shaul on the Torah - First Edition Furth 1765

Sefer Divrei Shaul, on the Torah and Haftarot, by Rabbi Shaul of Loiten Bach (Ashkenaz), previously a Moreh Hora'ah in Branshburg. An interesting composition, following the Rishonim, commentators of the Torah in a true and honest manner "ויורה מי שהוא אוהב האמת ובקי בדרכי המפרשים הקדמונים". According to the title page, the author published only some of his large composition to demonstrate his important elucidation before the public "פן ואולי ימצא איש נדיב לב שיוציא לאור חיבורו הגדול פירש חדש על הפטורת מכל השנה לזכות בו את הרבים...".

First edition - Furth, 1765. [1], 3-45 [i.e. 42] leaves. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection. Approbations by Rabbi Hirsch Halevi Av Beit Din of Eislitz and Zotz and Rabbi Meir Roth Bass. Ancient binding. Worn leather spine. Stains. Good overall condition.

On the flyleaf, a signature: "זלמן הירש".
