Avkat Rochel / Sefer Hayashar / Sha'arei Tshuvah - Shklov? / Sudilkov / Vilna 1740s

Volume with three important books:

1. Avkat Rochel, by Rabbi Machir, a disciple of Rabbi Yehuda ben Harosh. Printed without noting the printer's name and place of printing, which led to disagreements and many assumptions about this book. Gershom Scholem wrote about one of the copies, now in the National Library, that it  was apparently printed in Zholkva or Lvov yet also introduces the words of Shmuel Wiener who claims it was printed in Shklov, 1820. Nevertheless, this copy is a variant since at its end there is a table of errors and there is a typographic change in the heading of the last leaf. Gershom Scholem comments on this that this looks close to the truth.

2. Sefer Hayashar by Rabbeinu Tam - Sudilkov, 1836. 36 leaves.

3. Sefer Sha'arei Tshuvah by the true Chassid Rabbeinu Yonah - Vilna, 1839. 48 leaves.

Ancient, blemished binding. Stains. Good overall condition.

varied notations. On the flyleaf, appearing beneath the heading "Inherited by" are several names that had inherited the book.
