Exciting: Letter handwritten and signed by Rabbi Nachum Yehuda Leib Weingott, written to Rabbi Yosef Chaim Zonnenfeld. Warsaw 1930.
Loaded with humility and pleasing words in honor of the Torah.
In the opening after the titles: “I who merited serving Maran Rabbi Naftali Katz, I have a debt to fill his holy wishes which he shared with me some hours before he became ill, among these conversations my eyes were opened—” and he discusses being in debt and being chased after for money, he details the properties they have in Tel Aviv and how they should sell them to repay their debts.
“And in order that there won’t be any shtarei hediyot I will write in it what I answered to the man who asked me for what reason Moshe Rabbeinu killed the Egyptian with the Holy Name? And I thought that Hashem hinted with it that the Lord of Prophets preserved himself for his entire life from the impurity of the dead so that he would be able to work the 7 Yemei HaMiluim without needing haza’ah…”. In this manner he adds his chiddushim to an otherwise mundane letter, and ends with more titles and his signature.
On the opposite side he adds more words of request that the recipient intercede on his behalf and “relieve me from the constant headache and the inability to sleep at night as a result of my worries about my situation, the owners of the debt are chasing after me to pay them and I don’t have, they are pushing me to auction off my possessions even my dishes.” The end of the letter is cut off.
