Massachusetts Federal Mahogany Tall Case Clock, First Quarter 19th Century
The white-painted arched dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, having a subsidiary seconds dial, all within gilded and painted foliate scroll spandrels, the twin train eight-day movement striking on a bell.The pierced fretwork joined by three fluted plinths topped with brass ball-and-spire finials above an arched hood, the dial door flanked by free-standing turned colonnettes and arched rectangular side lights, the step and cove molding joining the waist, the molded tombstone door, above a cove molded and box base, all supported by a stepped and molded plinth with low square feet.
Dimensions: Height 95 1/2in; width 22 1/4in; depth 11in.
Condition:
The case is in overall good condition. With a full width horizontal age crack and shrinkage to the box base. The dial with heavy wear, losses and flaking overall. With pendulum, and two weights. We cannot guarantee the completeness and functionality of the clock's movement.
