Locati LLC is proud to present American Furniture and Silver from the Collection of C Thomas Attix, Jr., who was a lifelong collector of American material culture with a particular fondness of furniture, coin silver, and Oriental rugs. His collection reflects his interest in the Delaware Valley, with an emphasis on mid 18th through early 19th century silversmiths and figured hardwoods vetted by his discerning eye for form and surface. Among the highlights are a Thomas Stretch Philadelphia clock, a collection of figured maple furniture, and silver by noted makers such as Joseph Richardson Sr. and Richard Humphreys.

Philadelphia Queen Anne Mahogany Tilt-Top Candlestand

A Philadelphia Queen Anne Mahogany Tilt-Top Candlestand, Mid 18th Century. Of fine proportions; the circular one board dished-top with birdcage action support above a tapered ring-turned pedestal with carved wafer and ball,  raised on a tripod base with cabriole legs, terminating in pad feet.

Dimensions: Height 29 1/4in; diameter of top 23in.

Provenance: Property from the Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr., East Windsor, New Jersey.

Condition:

Structurally sound. Retaining an old untouched and dark surface. The top having approximately 1/2" of shrinkage. The dish-top with scattered, chips, nicks, fleabites, small losses and an old glued break. Lacking the mahogany wedge that holds the top tight inside the birdcage to the central support. Otherwise honest condition.
