His collection reflects his interest in the Delaware Valley, with an emphasis on mid 18th through early 19th century silversmiths and figured hardwoods vetted by his discerning eye for form and surface. Among the highlights are a Thomas Stretch Philadelphia clock, a collection of figured maple furniture, and silver by noted makers such as Joseph Richardson Sr. and Richard Humphreys.

Calico 'Robbing Peter to Pay Paul' Pieced and Applique Quilt, Circa 1850

An American Calico Cotton Pieced and Applique Quilt, in the 'Robbing Peter to Pay Paul' Pattern, Circa 1850. Comprising forty-two hand pieced blocks,  hand quilted at 7-8 stitches per inch with tulip and floral motifs to the white ground. Indigo blue appliqued swag border to four sides. Thin batting and finished with a hand stitched indigo blue binding.

Dimensions: Dimensions approximately 93 x 85in.

Provenance: Property from the Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr., East Windsor, New Jersey.


Condition:

In overall good condition; wear commensurate with age and use. Scattered small stains and minor discolorations.
