His collection reflects his interest in the Delaware Valley, with an emphasis on mid 18th through early 19th century silversmiths and figured hardwoods vetted by his discerning eye for form and surface. Among the highlights are a Thomas Stretch Philadelphia clock, a collection of figured maple furniture, and silver by noted makers such as Joseph Richardson Sr. and Richard Humphreys.

An American Chintz and Calico Cotton Pieced Quilt, in the 'Broken Dishes' Pattern, Circa 1840-1850. Hand quilted at 6-7 stitches per inch. Having an eleven-inch chintz border with floral sprays to four sides. Thin batting and finished with hand sewn edges. Initialed 'M.H.L.' in ink twice to the reverse.

Dimensions: Dimensions approximately 108 x 89in.

Provenance: Property from the Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr., East Windsor, New Jersey.


Condition:

In overall good condition; wear commensurate with age and use. Scattered small stains and minor discolorations. Some calico fabrics are thin and worn/shattered.
