American Girlhood Needlework Sampler, Mary Campbell, 1825
An American Girlhood Silk on Linen Needlework Sampler Wrought by Mary Campbell, Dated 1825. Inscribed "Remember thy / Creator in the days / of they youth." above a large basket of flowers and signed 'Mary Campbell / 1825' below and flanked by a pair of urns, within a large rose floral border to four sides. Framed beneath parcel gilt and ebonized eglomise glass.
Dimensions: Sight 15 3/4 x 16 1/2in; Frame 20 1/4 x 21 1/4in.
Provenance: Property from a Philadelphia Main Line Collection.
Condition:
Framed and glazed. Not examined out of the frame. General fading overall, minor age spots and discoloration to linen ground, otherwise ginerally good condition, no observed losses.
