Rene Lalique (French, 1860-1945) Original Cast Metal Architectural Element
Refined composition in this cast metal relief sculpture with brown patina designed by Art Nouveau and Art Deco master craftsman Rene Lalique. This low relief in the shape of a hand-held mirror is exceptionally detailed. Lalique has represented two Classical figures clad with transparent veils, set in a Greco-Roman interior. The standing figure holds an amphora and raises a small container toward the seated female holding a mirror. This exceptional quality piece was acquired directly from the private collection of the descendants of Rene Lalique and has never been offered publicly.
