R. Shalom Noach Brezovsky/ Nesivos Shalom of Slonim. Historical Information Regarding the Kedoshim of Baranovitch. Yerusholayim 1945!
Early letter signed by the heads of the Beis Avrohom (Slonimer) Yeshiva including the Nesivos Shalom regarding a receipt for a donation. They continue with the detailed work of the Yeshiva and underscore the desperate need for funding. At the end of the letter they write that “we have received a letter that from the entire town of Baranovitch, only 200 souls have survived and that the rest were killed Motzoei Yom Kippur and Chodesh Adar of 1942”.
R. Shalom Noach Brezovsky (1911-2000), was born in Baranovitch to R. Moshe Avrohom, head of the local Chassidic community. His mother was a descendant of a brother of the first Slonimer Rebbe (Yesod Ha’Avodah). In 1933 he married a daughter of Rabbi Avrohom Weinberg of Tiveria, later to become Slonimer Rebbe (Birchas Avrohom). In 1941, he opened the Slonimer Yeshiva in Yerusholayim with just 5 talmidim. In his capacity as Slonimer Rosh Yeshiva he educated hundreds of distinguished talmidim. In 1981, he succeeded his father-in-law, as the Slonimer Rebbe of Yerusholayim. He was a tremendous Talmid Chochom and prolific author, particularly famous for his Seforim Nesivos Sholom which were received to almost unprecedented acclaim.
