R. Tzadok Ha’Cohen Rabinowitz of Lublin (1823-1900), was a unique and original Chassidic Rebbe. Born into a distinguished Lithuanian rabbinical family, he was recognized as a prodigy at the age of 6, becoming known as the Ilui of Krinik. After his marriage he met with the Ishbitza Rebbe R. Mordechai Yosef Leiner and became his devoted Chassid, studying under him as well as under R. Yehuda Leib Eiger. In the year 1888, following the passing of R. Leib Eiger, R. Tzadok accepted the position of serving as Rebbe in Lublin. His Seforim are fundamentals of Chassidic thought and remain extremely popular.
R. Yaakov Yitzchok Ruderman (1900-1987), was born in a small town near Vilna, where his father was Rav. He studied in the Slabodka Yeshiva and has a particularly close connection to the Alter. He married the daughter of R. Sheftel Kramer, and in 1930, he joined R. Sheftel at the latter’s Yeshiva in New Haven, Connecticut. In 1933, R. Ruderman moved to Baltimore, where he became Rav of the Tiferes Yisroel Shul, and subsequently founded the Ner Yisroel Yeshiva, where he taught generations of Talmidim.
