Chukei HaIshus. Noda B’Yehuda. Only Edition. Munkacs 1903. Extremely Rare!
Extremely rare sefer in Hebrew translating a treatise written by the Noda B’Yehuda in January 1783, upon the request of the Kaiser, outlining all the basic laws relating to a Jewish marriage. Seemingly, for legal reasons the government wanted a concise synopsis of the Halachic laws pertaining to a Jewish marriage and divorce, which as Chief Rabbi the Noda B’Yehuda was obligated to write.
R. Yechezkel Landau (1713-1793), was born in Opatow and studied in the great Yeshivos of Ludmir and Brody. He served first as a Dayan in Brody and later as a Rav in Yampol. Whilst in Yampol, his reputation preceded him to the renowned Jewish community of Prague who retained him as Rav, and where he served until his passing. He was held in awe by his rabbinical contemporaries as well as the general public, and was greatly respected in government circles. World famous as one of the most prominent rabbinical leaders of his generation, he led a great Yeshiva and authored many important works, including his classic halachic responsa Noda B’Yehuda (after which he is known), Dagul Mervavah on the Shulchan Aruch and Tzion L’Nefesh Chaya (abbreviated as Tz’lach) on the Talmud.
Kahn-Fried press. 16 pages. 22 cm. Fine condition. Title page detached. Modern binding.
Bound with Mofes Ha’Dor, biography of the Noda B’Yehuda authored by R. Yekusiel Komelher, Munkacs 1903 (lacking title page).
