ARTIST: STEFANO BOLCATO

Stefano Bolcato, born in 1967, lives and works in Rome where he studied at the S. Giacomo School of Ornamental Arts and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. Stefano has always been attracted to the world of art and has always had the need to draw and paint, so in addition to having studied that field, he decided to try to make a living from it. As an artist, his works range from oil paintings to authorial graphics where the subjects are very diverse.

After rediscovering his old LEGOs in the cellar he decided to use them in his figurative language, which aided by oil painting, maintains the bright colors and chromatic nuances typical of the POP key that he wants to exploit for his narration. In his unique works Bolcati decides to address important issues: such as domestic violence, accidental deaths or the crisis... Thanks to the playful medium of the LEGO world he allows the viewer to linger on the work in a light and carefree way and then strike him with highly symbolic and explanatory details of the theme that the artist decides to deal with.

His reinterpretations of historical works of art have allowed him to study great artists such as Leonardo, Magritte, Raphael and many others and therefore to become passionate about the theme of portraiture.
