1987 United States Mint Set in Original Government Packaging! with 10 Coins Inside!. 1987 United States Mint Set included a total of 10 coins. The 1987 Mint Set experienced a surge in collector interest following lackluster sales of the past three years. The increased level of sales for the present set was attributable to the 1987 P&D Kennedy Half Dollars. The denomination was not struck for circulation during the year, making the annual mint set the only way to obtain the coins!!!. There were ten coins included in each 1987 Mint Set. This consisted of P&D Kennedy Half Dollars, P&D Washington Quarters, P&D Roosevelt Dimes, P&D Jefferson Nickels, and P&D Lincoln Cents. The set also included mint tokens from Philadelphia and Denver. Envelopes for the mint set were brightened up from prior years, with white and red colors separated by a blue stripe. The US Treasury Department logo appears on the upper portion with “The United States Mint”, “1987 Uncirculated Coin Set”, and “with D and D mint marks” on the lower portion.
