Amsterdam: Johannem Boom 1713

A work that compares biblical verses to New Testament verses, by the Dutch theologian Willem Surenhuis (1664-1729).

Surenhuis (whose name may be spelled Willem or Wilhelm; Surenhuys, Surenhuis, or Surenhuisen) is particularly celebrated for his rendering into Latin of the entire Mishnah (Amsterdam, 1698–1703).

Upon his move from Groningen to Amsterdam, Surenhusius struck up relations with members of the Portuguese Jewish community, trading books and manuscripts with them. He had great respect for the Rabbinic tradition, and argued that without the knowledge of Rabbinic literature, Christians could not fully understand the Old and the New Testaments.
